  • TDF progress update! I have finished the fractal yarn, all the bobbins have now been plied, the brown icelandic single is finished, & the cotton is progressing. I also prepped 200g grams of ‘berry burst’ roving into rolags because I impulsively decided I needed a lofty woolen spin for the planned chunky yarn.

  • I decided to be slightly more relaxed for TDF this year. My goals are to spin up the wools shown, as well as some egyptian cotton I prepped into rolags, – if everything is singles at the end I’m cool with that. I’m also doing a chill bingo from one of my discord fibre groups…

  • This was an interesting exercise. Both skeins are 100% yak with singles spindle spun supported at the same time. BUT left one was plyed end of last year using my usual method matching the ply twist to the singles twist on my plying drop. Meanwhile the right one was plyed recently on the drop except…

  • Finally cleared off my craft desk of full spindles, and holy heck! I am doomed to some serious plying hell because I filled up a lot of spindles…and this isn’t even all the spindles I own now…

  • Thought I’d share the very first spin I did on my new Daedalus wheel earlier this year. This fibre (called Tropical Paradise, which didn’t give me tropical vibes at all) I used as tribute to dial in my preferred settings for singles and plying. Thus the resulting yarn is very over spun, over plyed, and…

  • Visited the Sydney Royal Easter Show today & Look!! The yarn (WOW blend Yzma’s New Groove) I entered into the class for wholly spun & plied on a hand spindle placed 3rd!! Bonus was my crochet handspun made shawl was selected for display. I am so ridiculously happy & proud since I’ve only been doing…

  • Decided to blend some grey BFL tops from my stash with the black Faroe Island sample tops from one of last years monthly fibre club. The difference in staple length is INSANE! The faroe is easily twice the length if not longer than the BFL. But it’s making such a lovely blended charcoal colour.

  • I lost bobbin chicken with about 250g of this fibre to go. However, I am massively impressed with the capacity of my daedalus’s bobbins. These are laceweight singles.

  • Please enjoy some spinning with me on my new Daedalus Starling (aka ‘The Lamborghini’). Fibre is the WoW team blend Dragon’s Breath which is merino & mulberry silk.

  • This is the finished rectangular shawl I made for the 2024 Royal Easter Show competition. Honestly, the colours are not represented well in photos at all! This is made using my ‘sunburnt country’ handspun spun which is marled 2ply yarn burnt orange/yellow/red plyed with a teal blue/green. I intentionally made the shawl longer so that…
