  • All but 3 of my regular working spindles are full, & I don’t have any more storage space to keep going. So every one now has to be pulled off & processed into skeins.

  • Process pics of creating some practice colourwork mug rugs. I’m teaching myself stranded colourwork knitting because I want to make up a lovely cowl pattern I found. I don’t really enjoy knitting but finished colourwork is worth it.

  • I rediscovered my beading equipment recently and have been making a bunch of knitting/crochet stitch marker sets. I’m planning to possibly even make some bookmark hooks. The ones off to the side I’m keeping, but all the others will eventually be photographed and put up in my Etsy.

  • Final step in wet finishing handspun…thwacking! Still have to spin/finish the remaining welsh & scandi roving before I measure all the yardage.

  • I may have gone a little bit insane playing with all my spindles. I’ve got two 4ply plying balls ready, 2 mini plying balls, some black welsh waiting to be plied with what’s still on a spindle, more harmony/scandi/red panda singles, and a merino mulberry silk blend on the glasspin. Suffice to say I’ve been…

  • I bought this white scandinavian mountain sheep wool to practice on my gossamer spindle. It’s quite scratchy because of the short guard hairs but also fluffy. I didn’t know how I wanted to ply this as I don’t have a project in mind for it, until I opened my next spin fibre; some black welsh…

  • Finally skeined all the yarn I have finished so far. I still have to make more of the ‘Sunburnt Country’ which is destined for a ruffle scarf.

  • After letting the new spins rest, I spent a few hours prepping all the yarn for plying. The red panda is going to be chain plyed after I’ve spun all the balls, but all the rest have been balled into double strand balls ready for even plying.

  • I organised my squishy mail from this week & now have to ban myself from buying roving until I’ve spun up more of my stash. My glass bowls from MingoAsho and the tulip spindle from TexasJeans also arrived, and I’m so looking forward to using them!

  • Kettle has decided he wants to do more spinning. I’ve decided the banksia pod spindles max capacity is 100g. Once I get to the last 2-3 lengths of the roving ball the spindle starts behaving like an unwieldy pregnant cow and gets challenging to handle.
