I organised my squishy mail from this week & now have to ban myself from buying roving until I’ve spun up more of my stash. My glass bowls from MingoAsho and the tulip spindle from TexasJeans also arrived, and I’m so looking forward to using them!

Kettle has decided he wants to do more spinning. I’ve decided the banksia pod spindles max capacity is 100g. Once I get to the last 2-3 lengths of the roving ball the spindle starts behaving like an unwieldy pregnant cow and gets challenging to handle.

Since I’ve ended up taking spindles with me everywhere I decided I needed a proper carry case instead of just throwing these artisan tools in my handbag. This custom ordered leather case was from CardGameAccessories on Etsy. It needed to fit my unusually long (13.8-14”) & wide (3.8-4”) spindles and the maker absolutely blew it…

Finally using my new Lykke ball winder and swift arrived and they are gorgeous! The smell of rosewood wafting everywhere whilst winding yarn cakes is truly delightful. I wound up my first ever yarn (green, I’m calling it ‘Curly Qs’) and my variegated red/blue yarn. For some reason one of the variegated skeins snapped when…

My new spindle from BullSheepFibry on Etsy arrived & I am in love! 😍 This is a highly versatile spindle; you can switch the weight balls around so weighs between 24 to 61 grams, it can be either rim or centre weighted, it can be a top whorl drop or a bottom whorl drop/semi supported.…

Ok, I’m good for roving now. The scandi wool is for support spindle practice & Felting Ewe roving is destined for some shawls. The rest is just because it’s delicious blends & I got enough to knit some small items once spun.

My new gossamer support spindle, made by local Australian artisan The Spindle Shop, along with a reversible support bowl arrived. This spindle is absolutely lovely. It’s made from banksia, lacewood, and frogwood & weighs 16 grams. The support bowl has a shallow dimple and a deeper dimple & is made from camphor. This is my…

Started up my Harmony roving on a new banksia pod spindle. Meanwhile the 100g Ice&Fire roving was finished and pulled off onto the niddy noddy (498yds / 455m), freeing up the spindle for the next 100g ball.

My SIL taught me how to spin over the holidays. Now I need to make up a niddy noddy to get this yarn off and start all over again because god this is relaxing to do.

Having a whale of a time doing some whale assembly!
