  • Eeeeeeeeeee! Look what arrived yesterday! The largest fibre order I have EVER made and the currency conversion was horrific, but these colour ways are just. so. gorgeous! I have no regrets. Fibres are handdyed by Fossil Fibres.

  • Fibre washing day 2 was a roaring success. This time with parrot supervision (he knows “hot” and “careful” means don’t go near things). White is Leicester from two different farms, black/grey is merinoXleicester.

  • I’ve been making doll knitwear for my critter friends from my handspuns! The bobble textured & grey shawls are actually a headscarf pattern – the buttons on the edges allow them to also be worn as a headscarf/neckerchief by a human.   • I am planning to do something I said I wouldn’t do … wash some fleeces! These are both local wool from Scotts Creek Farm in NSW. The white/blue-grey locks are traditional Leicester breed. The beautiful blue-black fleece with brown tipping is a Leicester cross (possibly a merino). The bag smells very sheepy.

  • Finally cleared off my craft desk of full spindles, and holy heck! I am doomed to some serious plying hell because I filled up a lot of spindles…and this isn’t even all the spindles I own now…

  • Visited the Sydney Royal Easter Show today & Look!! The yarn (WOW blend Yzma’s New Groove) I entered into the class for wholly spun & plied on a hand spindle placed 3rd!! Bonus was my crochet handspun made shawl was selected for display. I am so ridiculously happy & proud since I’ve only been doing…

  • I lost bobbin chicken with about 250g of this fibre to go. However, I am massively impressed with the capacity of my daedalus’s bobbins. These are laceweight singles.

  • I noticed that the Royal Easter Show had a category for an item made completely from handspun. So I did something crazy & spent December/Jan crocheting up the shawl my ‘Sunburnt Country’ handspun was destined for to enter the category. Regardless of how successful this piece will be in the competition, this shawl came out…

  • WoW fibre advent Day 15. Today it’s a ‘naughty child’ blend of mohair, merino, viscose, & bamboo.

  • WoW fibre advent Day 14. This is a beautiful manx loaghtan, corridale, & bamboo blend giving off xmas pudding vibes.
