The hinges remained too bendy despite reforming. A big thanks to @TwinBlueChimera who suggested to expose them to sunlight to harden them further as they are a photopolymer resin. Three 2 hour exposures to indirect sunlight and they are now noticeably stiffer and able to support the base mask, as well as mask+antlers, when resting…

Jackalope update! Major hardware is now all installed. Chin has been extended to compensate for glasses pushing the mask out from the face. Gums, lips, and antler bases are apoxie sculpted. Eyes drilled out. Antlers are removable for storage. Jawset by DrakonicKnight. Base by StuffedPanda. Antlers by DVC. Flexible hinges, forehead rest, head harness by…

Started work on the wings portion of the fursuit project. K’rahmyteh has smallish, stubby wings akin to a kakapo. These feathers were designed via a combination of sketching out a full sized wing using a photoshoped me with kakapo wings, sketching out the individual feathers, then modifying #SunnybrookOne’s raven wing feather pattern to match my…

Progress! The entire back of the suit is completed. The front needs the side zipper installed before the top gets sewn to the bottom, then both halves will be joined and finished. I don’t have an overlocker, but I have been finishing the seams using a stretch blanket stitch on the machine, so effectively all…

Finalised the sleeves in prep for fur cutting. The original sleeve was embarassingly too large so I reduced the armhole (old sleeve). This was too small and stretched the sleeve/torso sections. Some slight modifications and I have a sleeve that is tight but not too tight, and doesn’t stretch (new sleeve).

MOVEMENT TEST! I literally have no choice but to walk on the ball of my foot and lift the whole foot to take a step. You can see by my little run that although you can roll your foot slightly you have to use a lot of leg muscles for power and to provide some…

FINISHED THE FEETSIES! The main toes are hot glued onto the shoes; you need to glue down each toe seperately starting with the middle toe so that everything is even and conforms to the shape of the shoe. The hallaces I threaded 3 bits of craft wire through all layers of foam/glue/fabric strips (using a…

More work on the feetsies! I carved out the toe shapes using the dremel and sanded smooth, before using my gas stove to heat seal the foam again. Claws were made from apoxie sculpt, sanded, and glued into the toes. Hot glue is along the toe bottoms as an extra safeguard against toe tears, and…

My fabric samples from #HowlsFabrics arrived, so I’ve started the pattern making process. Here is a shot of the final hood pattern, and a very sped up video of the taping process. Big shout-out to #TheMotleyCrow (you can see me referencing one of their masks at the end), who helped me considerably with the crest…

K’rahmyteh mask movement test. I was really happy that the hog bristles over the beak blended into the fur so well. Overall, I’m quite proud of how this is turning out!
