*cackles* I managed to get 400g of ‘ice cream’ merino & milk fibre singles on my bobbin. I’m planning to measure off 3 equal lengths of singles to 3 ply with a sparkly silver thread.

Eeeeeeeeeee! Look what arrived yesterday! The largest fibre order I have EVER made and the currency conversion was horrific, but these colour ways are just. so. gorgeous! I have no regrets. Fibres are handdyed by Fossil Fibres.

Fibre washing day 2 was a roaring success. This time with parrot supervision (he knows “hot” and “careful” means don’t go near things). White is Leicester from two different farms, black/grey is merinoXleicester.

First lot of scouring completed! This is 2 Leicester fleeces; one from NSW and one from Victoria. Also had some space in the bags to do some of the dark LeicesterXMerino fleece. It’s shocking how filthy sheep is & the transformation from yellow/grey to white is astounding! I’m going to have to somehow clean the…

Finished handspun shawl. This ended up being washed/blocked multiple times because unknown to me one of the black welsh skeins still had dirt in it, which distributed dirt throughout the shawl when initially washed. There’s still some light staining in parts of the marled yarn, but it’s much much better than before.

I finally measured all the skeins that I completed over the last few months during school term time. There is a lot of yardage here.

Finished red dorset horn waste wool, that was used for packing & I combed. It’s ended up a really lovely tweedy yarn 🧶

TDF progress update! I have finished the fractal yarn, all the bobbins have now been plied, the brown icelandic single is finished, & the cotton is progressing. I also prepped 200g grams of ‘berry burst’ roving into rolags because I impulsively decided I needed a lofty woolen spin for the planned chunky yarn.
-
I decided to be slightly more relaxed for TDF this year. My goals are to spin up the wools shown, as well as some egyptian cotton I prepped into rolags, – if everything is singles at the end I’m cool with that. I’m also doing a chill bingo from one of my discord fibre groups…

I finished up the red dorset, managed to get a decent yield with the only waste being big matts/nepps. I’m planning to spin this on my new Allen Berry spindle to ‘break it in’.
