I’m only doing a partial fursuit so I made a dtd with shorter arms and legs. Then taped it up to pull a pattern. Many things wrong with this including being too tight/small and the side zipper placement is wrong. More work to do!

Made up the pattern and cut the foam feathers for the tail, shapes based on a raven’s tail. I also carved the pygostyle nub which the feathers will be inset into and the nub will be covered in fur. Next up is sculpting the feathers!

I wasn’t too sure whether this pattern would be suitable for the K’rahmyteh costume, so I made up a pair in fashionable stripes as a test. This is honestly a beautiful pattern and allows for french seams if you want. My only edit was to machine blanket stitch the raw edge where the waistband is…

My fabric samples from #HowlsFabrics arrived, so I’ve started the pattern making process. Here is a shot of the final hood pattern, and a very sped up video of the taping process. Big shout-out to #TheMotleyCrow (you can see me referencing one of their masks at the end), who helped me considerably with the crest…

Decided that his eyebrows were too small for his eyes, so I added on the classic predatory bird eye ridge. Other changes were swapping out the springs for a new, springier double set. One higher gauge set on the outside hinge and a lower gauge set on the inside hinge, all held on with a…

Progress of the crest rigging & updated forehead rest and head harness. I’m very pleased with the rest & harness from #TwinBlueChimera as the mask now feels a lot more stable on my head with the weight now resting firmly on my forehead rather than my glasses! The crest rigging has been driving me insane…

Finally got my new hardware for the K’rahmyteh mask! So excited to install it and get to furring the head. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

K’rahmyteh mask movement test. I was really happy that the hog bristles over the beak blended into the fur so well. Overall, I’m quite proud of how this is turning out!

Finished the mask modifications! The skull was way too flat at the front so I had to sculpt it out to get a more rounded shape. The grey stuff is apoxy sculpt to build out a flat surface to install the eyes (hot glue was too runny to successfully do a thick build-out, and I…

In re-doing the eyeballs I also decided to remake the eyelids. Exactly the same process as before, except the eyelids are now minky fabric that I sewed onto the frames.
