  • MOVEMENT TEST! I literally have no choice but to walk on the ball of my foot and lift the whole foot to take a step. You can see by my little run that although you can roll your foot slightly you have to use a lot of leg muscles for power and to provide some…

  • FINISHED THE FEETSIES! The main toes are hot glued onto the shoes; you need to glue down each toe seperately starting with the middle toe so that everything is even and conforms to the shape of the shoe. The hallaces I threaded 3 bits of craft wire through all layers of foam/glue/fabric strips (using a…

  • Made up the butt and thigh pads for the fursuit. I want the illusion of super fluffy legs and the knee being more hidden in body fluff, like actual birds, and I think pads accomplish this well alongside the tail nub and the 4” fur I’ll be using. Next up is to re-pattern!

  • Sealed the feet in plastidip before painting with a mid gray base layer and a black top layer, wiping off excess paint as I went to get that mottled skin look. I’m sealing the paintwork using some flexible clear gloss art spray which’s going to take a week to dry between layer.

  • I started work on the leggings using the same pattern as before by using the french seam method this time around.

  • More work on the feetsies. Skin details are done using puffy paint; this is glow in the dark which dries clear as you can see from the sections I did first. The bottle says dries in 24 hours, but some of these blobs are super thick and I’m guessing will need at least a week…

  • This is the second shot at doing a dtd. The first one wasn’t done as well and warped/stretched when I had to be cut out quickly due to overheating, so it was shit trying to pull a pattern from it. This one is much better (although I am disturbed at how much my legs hyperflex!).…

  • More work on the feetsies! I carved out the toe shapes using the dremel and sanded smooth, before using my gas stove to heat seal the foam again. Claws were made from apoxie sculpt, sanded, and glued into the toes. Hot glue is along the toe bottoms as an extra safeguard against toe tears, and…

  • Sculpting all the vanes on the tail feathers. This really hurts the fingers!

  • Started work on the birdie feetsies. I spent hours (of frustrated) experimenting to get to this point as #rah-bop ‘s tutorial pattern didn’t really work with my BigW shoes for this project. Eventually figured out I needed to squish the shoe fabric top down to get an accurate pattern outline for the foam to sit…
