  • Plying, washing, & skeining all this has taken weeks! But honestly, these are some of the prettiest yarns I’ve made so far. I still have to ball/re-skein to measure lengths yet though, but that can wait for a bit.

  • 3 days of work and everything has been pulled off the spindles & prepped for plying. The yellow is still a singles ball as that’s my Easter Show competition spin waiting for the red alpaca to finish resting.

  • I’m doing TDF (Tour de Fleece) this year. My goals are tiny; simply finishing off singles for project spins with anything else, being that plying/additional spins, being an added bonus. Whilst holidaying in the hinterland last week, I completed one of my goals of finishing off the last single for my Easter Show competition yarn,…

  • I may have gone a little bit insane playing with all my spindles. I’ve got two 4ply plying balls ready, 2 mini plying balls, some black welsh waiting to be plied with what’s still on a spindle, more harmony/scandi/red panda singles, and a merino mulberry silk blend on the glasspin. Suffice to say I’ve been…

  • I bought this white scandinavian mountain sheep wool to practice on my gossamer spindle. It’s quite scratchy because of the short guard hairs but also fluffy. I didn’t know how I wanted to ply this as I don’t have a project in mind for it, until I opened my next spin fibre; some black welsh…

  • Finally skeined all the yarn I have finished so far. I still have to make more of the ‘Sunburnt Country’ which is destined for a ruffle scarf.

  • Finally using my new Lykke ball winder and swift arrived and they are gorgeous! The smell of rosewood wafting everywhere whilst winding yarn cakes is truly delightful. I wound up my first ever yarn (green, I’m calling it ‘Curly Qs’) and my variegated red/blue yarn. For some reason one of the variegated skeins snapped when…

  • Washed my first handspun to set the twist & weighted it to dry in an attempt to even things out. Nope, my first handspun is a hot mess of wiggles because parts are way overspun. That’s ok, I never expected it to be perfect. Now I’m going to put it back on the niddy noddy…

  • Started up my Harmony roving on a new banksia pod spindle. Meanwhile the 100g Ice&Fire roving was finished and pulled off onto the niddy noddy (498yds / 455m), freeing up the spindle for the next 100g ball.

  • Holy smokes, I spun up approximately 236yds (215m) of yarn. Now it needs to rest for a bit before I set the twist.
