Puffy paw construction Pt 1 Made some puffy paws for my SIL for christmas. These were all the pieces for the main paws. I used @Kloofsuit paw pattern as I’ve never constructed paws ‘properly’ before and didn’t want to make my own pattern just yet. Previously I’ve built paws over gloves using foam.

Finished the bodysuit mockup. It’s mostly perfect as is, only edits that can be done when cutting the fur is adding extra seam allowance around the hip area & using a slightly longer zipper. I’ll add in sleeves once I get more calico. Meanwhile, I need a break from this project.

My fur order from @Bartfeld arrived!

Taped up with the new pads and it looks so much better than the first attempt! After cutting the pieces off the dtd, I transfered them onto butchers paper so I could include seam allowance, ensure parts supposed to be straight were, and draft the crotch into the leg pieces properly. MOVEMENT TEST! I literally have no choice but to walk on the ball of my foot and lift the whole foot to take a step. You can see by my little run that although you can roll your foot slightly you have to use a lot of leg muscles for power and to provide some…

The hallaces I threaded 3 bits of craft wire through all layers of foam/glue/fabric strips (using a…

Made up the butt and thigh pads for the fursuit. I want the illusion of super fluffy legs and the knee being more hidden in body fluff, like actual birds, and I think pads accomplish this well alongside the tail nub and the 4” fur I’ll be using. Next up is to re-pattern!

Sealed the feet in plastidip before painting with a mid gray base layer and a black top layer, wiping off excess paint as I went to get that mottled skin look. I’m sealing the paintwork using some flexible clear gloss art spray which’s going to take a week to dry between layer.

I started work on the leggings using the same pattern as before by using the french seam method this time around.
