  • Started work on the birdie feetsies. I spent hours (of frustrated) experimenting to get to this point as #rah-bop ‘s tutorial pattern didn’t really work with my BigW shoes for this project. Eventually figured out I needed to squish the shoe fabric top down to get an accurate pattern outline for the foam to sit…

  • I’m only doing a partial fursuit so I made a dtd with shorter arms and legs. Then taped it up to pull a pattern. Many things wrong with this including being too tight/small and the side zipper placement is wrong. More work to do!

  • Made up the pattern and cut the foam feathers for the tail, shapes based on a raven’s tail. I also carved the pygostyle nub which the feathers will be inset into and the nub will be covered in fur. Next up is sculpting the feathers!

  • My fabric samples from #HowlsFabrics arrived, so I’ve started the pattern making process. Here is a shot of the final hood pattern, and a very sped up video of the taping process. Big shout-out to #TheMotleyCrow (you can see me referencing one of their masks at the end), who helped me considerably with the crest…

  • Progress of the crest rigging & updated forehead rest and head harness. I’m very pleased with the rest & harness from #TwinBlueChimera as the mask now feels a lot more stable on my head with the weight now resting firmly on my forehead rather than my glasses! The crest rigging has been driving me insane…

  • In re-doing the eyeballs I also decided to remake the eyelids. Exactly the same process as before, except the eyelids are now minky fabric that I sewed onto the frames.
