  • Started work on Miwak’s bone tail. It’s going to look fantastic but I immediately see issues with putting on the minky sleeve. It’s also highly unlikely I’ll get this, plus paws and head, done by spring, when my maker will have an opening for the body suit…

  • Completed ankle length king cheetah tail. Features a reinforced gore cutoff end for a standard sized belt and detail fur trimming.

  • Working on another pre-made tail, just because. This one is a king cheetah.

  • Completed snow leopard tail. This is huge (148cm) featuring a gore cap and weighted tip. Rosettes are all hand sewn and has detail trimming to show these off.

  • Whelp, the original gore cap was too large and failed in holding the tails weight up. So I’m redesigning with a single reinforced belt ‘tube’ and I inserted a 3” foam block at the tail base for stability. So far, it looks like it’ll work well.

  • Gore end cap for the snow leopard tail. This was my first time doing satin stitch and I’m really pleased at how smooth I got most of it.

  • A good trick to sewing long pieces is to sew one side to the end, then flip and sew the other side to the end. This prevents the warping that can happen when you sew all in one go. Need to get more materials to finish this off with a nice weighted tail tip and…

  • Got all the rosettes into the tail and have cut ‘n’ clipped the rosettes for the other tail half. There’s still some smaller solid spots to sew in after the rosettes, and I think I’ll have to do some fur trimming to really highlight the dark outlines. But looking good so far!

  • Sat down over the weekend to sew some rosettes. They weren’t as obnoxious as I feared they would be, plus they’ve come out great!

  • I decided to make something silly. I’m in for a stack of hand sewing on this project!
