Finalised the sleeves in prep for fur cutting. The original sleeve was embarassingly too large so I reduced the armhole (old sleeve). This was too small and stretched the sleeve/torso sections. Some slight modifications and I have a sleeve that is tight but not too tight, and doesn’t stretch (new sleeve).

Finished feetpaws. Pattern by Kemocube on etsy, with the modifications of claws and padded lining. These are super comfy and squishy! Would be great for a partial fursuit/costume or even as indoor slippers.

Progress on the sockpaws. The pattern said I could set claws into the darts, but that didn’t work so well as they all ended up too low on the foot and bend into the floor. Something to note for future use.

Finished set of 5 finger paws; steel blue fur, ivory fox fur, ivory minky claws, & black minky pads with a printed cotton lining. I’m really pleased with how these came out. Materials are all locally sourced, paw movement modelled by my partner. As these were an experiment I don’t really have a use for…

Labouriously sewing in the pads and clipping parts together whilst watching Adam Savage.

Completed puffy paws modeled by my partner. For my first pair of ‘proper’ paws I’m very pleased how they turned out, despite having some minor flaws. I learnt so much and now I’m going to make my own pattern for 5-finger paws and experiment with installing finger escapes.

Puffy paw construction Pt 1 Made some puffy paws for my SIL for christmas. These were all the pieces for the main paws. I used @Kloofsuit paw pattern as I’ve never constructed paws ‘properly’ before and didn’t want to make my own pattern just yet. Previously I’ve built paws over gloves using foam.

I taped up with the padding and discovered I’d created the dreaded drumstick leg! Oh noes! #FursuitTutorials was excellent in helping me understand what went wrong (knee pads upside down and too small, wrong shaped pads, overstuffing). So I made up some new pads which already look so much better.

Made up the butt and thigh pads for the fursuit. I want the illusion of super fluffy legs and the knee being more hidden in body fluff, like actual birds, and I think pads accomplish this well alongside the tail nub and the 4” fur I’ll be using. Next up is to re-pattern!

Sealed the feet in plastidip before painting with a mid gray base layer and a black top layer, wiping off excess paint as I went to get that mottled skin look. I’m sealing the paintwork using some flexible clear gloss art spray which’s going to take a week to dry between layer.
