  • After some frustration locating worbla (had to buy from 2 different places), I now have all the pieces traced and the foam cut. As worbla allows form shaping I combined some pieces, and the foam is cut slightly smaller to allow for the worbla sandwich seams so the whole thing stays the required size.

  • Finished jawset for the Spirit of the North fox head project. I really like how the dappled top palette really helps to sell the illusion when viewed from the right angle. This has to be put aside now until I’m able to get some more head harnesses & forehead/chin rests shipped to me.

  • I need to get a bucket base inside this mask before foam sculpting details on the face. I’m planning to try to bully this MissRar’s bucket base into it…somehow…

  • This fox jaw gave me angst! Due to space/shaping constraints the jaws had to be set back a little further than I would’ve liked which posed issues for sculpting. The lower jaw was resculpted 3 times until it looked believable. The upper jaw needed extra gums to aid illusion of correct teeth placement due to…

  • Miwak’s head is finished! I am soo happy with how they turned out. Sadly, I’ve had several issues with commissioning his bodysuit, so he’s going to have to remain a partial for now until I can sort that out (fingers crossed next times the charm).

  • Gluing down Miwak’s face. It’s easy if you glue in stages and make sure the whole face is centred first, and if hot glue drips on the fur accidentally just wait until it cures then it cleanly picks straight off without damaging the fur. The lower jaw gets glued once I’ve sewed the face and…

  • Miwak is coming along fantastically! I’m not going to glue anything down until I’ve finished the kanekalon mane as I’m not sure whether I will have to adjust anything.

  • I am slogging away at the mane piece, which is basically a hand latched kanekalon wig. This is the left side that I finished off, with some pattern adjustments so it’ll blend into the mask fur better. Still have to make the other side and get them backed before installation. It’s massively poofy right now…

  • Piecing the fur sections of Miwak’s face and neck together.

  • Started sewing up Miwak’s hood. There were a few minor adjustments to the ear pattern but so far I’m please with how it’s looking.
