More work on the feetsies! I carved out the toe shapes using the dremel and sanded smooth, before using my gas stove to heat seal the foam again. Claws were made from apoxie sculpt, sanded, and glued into the toes. Hot glue is along the toe bottoms as an extra safeguard against toe tears, and…

Sculpting all the vanes on the tail feathers. This really hurts the fingers!

Started work on the birdie feetsies. I spent hours (of frustrated) experimenting to get to this point as #rah-bop ‘s tutorial pattern didn’t really work with my BigW shoes for this project. Eventually figured out I needed to squish the shoe fabric top down to get an accurate pattern outline for the foam to sit…

I’m only doing a partial fursuit so I made a dtd with shorter arms and legs. Then taped it up to pull a pattern. Many things wrong with this including being too tight/small and the side zipper placement is wrong. More work to do!

Made up the pattern and cut the foam feathers for the tail, shapes based on a raven’s tail. I also carved the pygostyle nub which the feathers will be inset into and the nub will be covered in fur. Next up is sculpting the feathers!

My fabric samples from #HowlsFabrics arrived, so I’ve started the pattern making process. Here is a shot of the final hood pattern, and a very sped up video of the taping process. Big shout-out to #TheMotleyCrow (you can see me referencing one of their masks at the end), who helped me considerably with the crest…

Progress of the crest rigging & updated forehead rest and head harness. I’m very pleased with the rest & harness from #TwinBlueChimera as the mask now feels a lot more stable on my head with the weight now resting firmly on my forehead rather than my glasses! The crest rigging has been driving me insane…

Finally got my new hardware for the K’rahmyteh mask! So excited to install it and get to furring the head. (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

Finished painting the beak (look at that subtle green shiny sheen!). This is actually 2 coats of black acrylic, with 2 coats black mixed with apple green pearlEx pigment (outside details), 2 coats black with bronze pearlEx pigment (inner beak), black washes and spatter texture, and 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to scratch back over the…
