It is becoming increasingly apparent that this is not a tail I ever wish to remake. First pic is the pieces for the first 2 segments, took about 2 hours to extract. Finally, 3 days and multiple cuttings sessions later, I present the rolls of pattern. 😵💫

After seeing how well check padding worked on Miwak, I decided to add some to the Jackalope, and wow! So much better now! Also installed the eyes and eyelids, and attempted to fix the rubbing on the upper tooth (but it hates me).
-
Miwak’s headbase is largely completed. No eyelids yet as still need to hook up the leds. I am also loving how well this fits me; it doesn’t slip at all & the jaw movement is partially kinetic with the slack taken up by the springs

One glove done for K’rahmyteh. The silver swirls are conductive thread. Now to complete the other one and add the claws.
-
Finished the core of Miwak’s tail. It has a pool noodle running through the middle, the elastic provides stability lengthwise and around the segment connections. Belt attachment is going to be a challenge as it’s designed to sit on the butt.
-
Several days work later and I have this absolute unit of a tail. Need to smooth out the sculpt before patterning & sewing each individual segment, before it’s connected into a single unit.
-
Started work on Miwak’s bone tail. It’s going to look fantastic but I immediately see issues with putting on the minky sleeve. It’s also highly unlikely I’ll get this, plus paws and head, done by spring, when my maker will have an opening for the body suit…
-
Another set of pre-made paws for practice. These are a slight pattern modification for the option of larger finger pads.
-
Whenever you create, adapt, or modify a pattern it’s always a good idea to make a paper mock-up first. I’m adapting the principals of the FurSmoothie pattern to have 5 toes and a moor bear-like foot shape.

Painted and sealed. I am so amazingly proud of these gums and paint tones. This is the first time I’ve sculpted gums with this level of detail that also had to avoid hiding teeth unnecessarily or hitting the upper jaw. Now to install all the hardware.
