Decided to put the backing on this wall hanging I finished a number of years ago. An easy way of adding a hanger is to insert some corner triangles in-between the hanging face and the padding/backing! When the hanging gets turned right side out these make small pockets that holds the hanging dowel in place.

My friend and I got a good start on our wedding bouquets. Now they need to be taped together, feathers inserted into the design, and handles wrapped.

Progress on one of my paint by numbers kits I bought recently.

Wanted to enjoy part of the school holidays and start of 2020 doing something completely mindless, that I can do in an anal-retentive mindful kind of way.

Welcome to 2020! A whole 2 christmases ago my partner laser cut a Magikarp model for me and I hung onto it until we had settled into our own home.

This is the model from the laser cut. I’m planning to design/model some whiskers for it at a later stage, as those parts didn’t cut properly on the sheet and crumbled to pieces when I popped them out.

I realised I’d made a rookie error with the original calculations (aka calculating pleats into whole length instead of finished length!). Once that was sorted I got sewing.

This is the finished cage cover. Despite careful measuring for some reason it has one end invert shorter by 2.5cm and a lining pucker under half a pleat. Despite this, it falls nicely allowing plenthy of airflow through the bottom. It’s held to the cage using snap clips over the top bar and the front ties together.

During the daytime, it’ll just be unclipped on each side and the top catcher pan taken out so birdy has plenty of light. The back will remain attached and the sides drop down. If birdy manages to pull the sides close to the cage for a nibble, the end ties are long enough that I can just loosely tie the sides behind the back out of the way.

I’ve included the corrected pattern measurements for any parronts looking to make their own cage cover. This would also work well for a set of curtains, you’d just have to adjust the length to your window.

Slowly getting there with the dragon cross stitch. Stitching on black is really hard on the eyes, particularly when some sections are the same colour in different stitches!

Decided to make a cage cover for the birdcage as all the commercial ones are boring! Found this cute fabric and taught myself how to calculate for inverted box pleats. Now I just need to find where I packed the sewing machine…

    yuumei-art:

6 days ago I made a post on Instagram in support of freedom for Hong Kong. This is a 7 year old art that I’ve posted many times before without issue. The only difference is this time I made the post in support of Hong Kong fighting for freedom against the oppressive Chinese government.

The next day, my post was removed for “hate speech”. This isn’t Instagram’s fault. The Chinese government paid attackers to mass report me, thus triggering the algorithm to automatically remove my post. I appealed the removal and my art was restored.

However, ever since that day, I’ve been shadowbanned as well and I’m still shadowbanned. No doubt due to the same abuse of report button by the paid attackers. The Chinese government have figure out a way to censor and control free speech even outside of their country.

Now people who aren’t already a follower on Instagram will not see my art. All of my free Hong Kong hashtags don’t show up anymore in search. This is how the Chinese government silence those who support freedom.

This is why the people of Hong Kong are fighting so hard to keep their freedom. No one in the free world should have to live under this level of abuse and censorship.

You can help me fight this injustice. Repost my art on Instagram with the hashtags #FreeHongKong #StandWithHongKong #HongKongProtest and share the story. Even if they censor me, the Chinese government can’t censor us all.

This is an artist I follow. She is very dedicated to her art and has suffered abuse at the hands of a government outside her country because of her using her right to free speech.

Share and repost! I don’t have Insta so reposting here is the best I can do. Free speech is an innate human right regardless of culture or creed.

free hong kong, free speech, free speech is a right, hong kong protests, shadowbanned for free speech, stand with hong kong
