Finished humpback whale cross stitch. This piece is actually quite a bit larger than most other similar Couchman patterns, making it almost scaled to the orca patterns. Stitched on 14 count aida and approximating a total of about 600 hours of stitching.
Finished up this paint by numbers. There’s something about this design that I really like, the colours all contrast yet blend together so nicely. Like last time I also sealed it to protect the paint from dust and fading.
Progress on the baby whale. So close to finishing now…
Decided to make an alternate table cloth/runner. This is the first of 2 stitched panels.
Been working on another paint by numbers intermittently over the last few weeks. It’s interesting seeing the perspective and shapes develop as each section gets blocked in.
After much frustration where the wool completely rended, twice!, on one of the front panels when reversing, we finally have a waistcoat ready for top stitching.
The wool tended to rend along seams, particularly where raw edges frayed endlessly. So after the original front panel, then the replacement panel rended, I just went to town on interfacing all suspect areas of the wool, including where the button holes will go.
I’m planning to do orange top-stitching and button holes. Also finally found the perfect buttons with little geese on them, just waiting for them and some fraycheck, to arrive in the post (who knows when that will be).
More progress on the whale; currently filling in the back of the main whale, then I’ll move on to the smaller baby positioned underneath.
Almost finished the wedding waistcoat. Today’s job was doing the cinch (using two bowtie buckles so it looks neater), and pinning the front & backs together ready for stitching.
Finished all the bunting! In total there is around 30ish metres of bunting (enough to span 6m between two trees twice and to edge 3 tables). Sewing all this used up a bit over 1300 metres of thread!
But my, it does look pretty festive!
More progress on the whale. I’m going to be heading over into flipper and tail territory soon!
