Last thing to be made before the wedding! My partners’ pocket square and feather boutounairre.

The boutounairre has 2 different kinds of duck and pheasant feathers, plus a little one of unknown origins at the front to match my feather earwing (the lady who made my jewellery kindly sent me some spare feathers for this purpose).

Started work on my dinosaur bones shirt. The dark colours don’t do my stitching justice in photos!

Attached the pocket, shoulders & front facing all with layered flat seams, and prepared the collar for attachment. Plus, I’m never using iron-on interfacing again!

    MOVEMENT TEST!

I literally have no choice but to walk on the ball of my foot and lift the whole foot to take a step. You can see by my little run that although you can roll your foot slightly you have to use a lot of leg muscles for power and to provide some ‘bounce’ to your movement.

FINISHED THE FEETSIES! The main toes are hot glued onto the shoes; you need to glue down each toe seperately starting with the middle toe so that everything is even and conforms to the shape of the shoe.

The hallaces I threaded 3 bits of craft wire through all layers of foam/glue/fabric strips (using a curved needle to poke a starting hole), and used these to literally tie them onto the shoe. My shoes had little holes in the fabric which I used to thread the wire through, then slathered the back of the hallax in hot glue before pressing it firmly to the shoe fabric. After the glue was dry, I twisted each wire pair, cut down to size, and glued flat against the inside with 2 layers of thick felt overlayed to protect my feet from being poked.

Another layer of felt just under the main toe lip/shoe margin, some dry brushed black paint over the glue edges & voila!

Finished up the decorations for my wedding (with some help from my partner and companion bird). I have 11 of these mini vases, made up from all the leftover feathers and flowers/foliage from when I made my bouquets.

Made up the butt and thigh pads for the fursuit. I want the illusion of super fluffy legs and the knee being more hidden in body fluff, like actual birds, and I think pads accomplish this well alongside the tail nub and the 4” fur I’ll be using.

    Next up is to re-pattern!

Sealed the feet in plastidip before painting with a mid gray base layer and a black top layer, wiping off excess paint as I went to get that mottled skin look. I’m sealing the paintwork using some flexible clear gloss art spray which’s going to take a week to dry between layer.

It was extremely frustrating attaching the collar and sleeves, but youtube was my friend. Also, I feel that my flat seams need admiration because they are just perfect!

Now I’m just waiting on buttons to arrive.

More work on the feetsies. Skin details are done using puffy paint; this is glow in the dark which dries clear as you can see from the sections I did first. The bottle says dries in 24 hours, but some of these blobs are super thick and I’m guessing will need at least a week to dry before I’m able to prime.
