Since I’ve ended up taking spindles with me everywhere I decided I needed a proper carry case instead of just throwing these artisan tools in my handbag.
This custom ordered leather case was from CardGameAccessories on Etsy. It needed to fit my unusually long (13.8-14”) & wide (3.8-4”) spindles and the maker absolutely blew it out of the park! I’m definitely gonna be a returning customer for a case for my smaller, more delicate support spindles.

Finally using my new Lykke ball winder and swift arrived and they are gorgeous! The smell of rosewood wafting everywhere whilst winding yarn cakes is truly delightful.
I wound up my first ever yarn (green, I’m calling it ‘Curly Qs’) and my variegated red/blue yarn. For some reason one of the variegated skeins snapped when winding, I think it got caught on of the swifts ties instead of running off smoothly, so I’ll have to rejoin it before plying the variegated cakes together.

My new spindle from BullSheepFibry on Etsy arrived & I am in love! 😍
This is a highly versatile spindle; you can switch the weight balls around so weighs between 24 to 61 grams, it can be either rim or centre weighted, it can be a top whorl drop or a bottom whorl drop/semi supported. Most importantly, it has perfect spin and goes forever!

Started on another windstones pyo, this time a gryphon channeling one of my favourite native birds.

Got this beautiful bottom whorl spindle from RagBagRebelAlliance on etsy. It’s turned from reclaimed antique parts; shaft is a furniture leg, whorl is a treadle spinning wheel whorl combined with a spinning wheel bobbin end. It kinda reminds me of a dalek eyestalk.
It’s 89g so is going to be a plying spindle. My only issue was it didn’t hold spin well with the flat bottom it was turned with, so I carefully drilled the tip & inserted a ball bearing ball (something I’ve seen professional spindle makers use in their expensive spindles) – it now spins long and smoothly.
