  • Plugging away at this still. I decided to use a hoop this time to see if that prevented the oils from my hands warping the cotton and the conclusion is yes, but it also seems to be speeding up the stitching whilst making it more even as well!

  • I spent a couple of delightful hours dremeling. Miwak’s eye ports needed smoothing, a half snarl mask needed prepping, and I started prep work for the next cosplay (spirit of the north fox).

  • I do enjoy art lib commissions. This is a special pair of paws where I’m using the black tipping on the red fur to achieve some tonal colour for the red, with inset yellow highlight stripes. I’ll do some selective hand trimming once the paw is all completed so the yellow stripes can be seen…

  • A windstones phoenix painted with reference to a black rooster. Completed using multiple atelier acrylic and folk art colour shift paint washes.

  • Most makers I’ve seen get a nice edge by rolling the fur under whilst they are gluing down. I’m a clutz so I decided to pre-roll all sides that would need it (eyes, nose, jaw) using a simple whip stitch. I also decided to roll the bottom edge of the hood to get a nice…

  • Because of the glue/knots in the wig, I had to install the zipper by hand. The rip stop zipper backing I was able to pass through the sewing machine, but everything else was secured down with a back stitch. This took aaaaallll day and I am exhausted 😩
